The Keynon Greenes
I love writing...
Sometime last year, I had the opportunity to be in Asaba. During my stay there, I met a very nice family at church and got really acquainted with them. A week later, an idea popped into my head urging me to start a book series about a family. I procrastinated for a while but eventually, almost a month after I got the idea; I created my very own fictional family series patterned after the lovely and very real one from church. I call it the Keynon Greenes.
Now the write up below didn't and will never actually happen in my book series. It's just something I thought up and scribbled recently during my free time. Do enjoy though...
Uncle Gibbs came around earlier today. He wanted to see me but I refused and shut myself in Nic's room.
I can't come to terms with the fact that he is my biological father. And most especially, I can't believe mom could have done something as bad as that. I always believed she and dad were madly in love. Now I can clearly understand why mom named me Gibbs, it wasn't because she'd been close to my paternal grandfather or anything as she'd claimed, but because she had cheated on Keynon with his older brother Gibbs jr. At least I can now understand why I have the darkest skin tone in my family. Gibbs is very dark-skinned unlike Dad and I don't seem to share any other features with him except that skin.
.................
When Dad returns home this evening, I don't rush out to meet him like I used to. Because the last time I had done it which was the same day that my DNA test results had come, he'd shrugged me off and walked straight into the house without even casting a glance in my direction. I am scared of the repetition of such an occurrence.
I don't hear him walk up the stairs and into my room because I have my headphones on with Rashfacklepop ringing loud in my ears. It is when he places his arms around me and kisses my hair that I realize what he is doing. I hug him back something fierce.
"I'm sorry baby,"he keeps repeating.
"I know,"I whisper
"You'll always be my baby girl Tyler,"he assures me with a smile. I blink to hold back the tears that are threatening to fall, but they do so anyway. Overwhelmed with a lot of emotions, I mutter "I love you Dad," with a kiss to his forehead.
He squeezes me tight and rocks me as though I'm a baby.

I'm certain at this point that most of you, if not all of you are dry-eyed. Its normal. I was dry-eyed as well when I was writing this, owing to the fact that it just popped out from no where and landed smack dab in the middle of my mind.
I hope you enjoyed it. If you want more of the Keynon Greenes, remember to tell me that in the comment section below.⬇️ I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Toodles for now.
Much love,
Sasha😚
PS: Tyler Gibbs, the girl narrating the write up above is the only character in the Keynon Greene book series that isn't patterned after any of the members of the lovely family, I met in church. Can you guess who she's patterned after? Leave your guesses in the comments. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
I love this one the most. I think the girl is patterned after your best friend or someone youre close to
